Rooted in cultural nostalgia yet refined through a contemporary lens, this café concept reimagines the quintessential Kuching kopitiam for a new generation. Designed to evoke warmth, openness, and authenticity, the space features a palette of polished marble, clear acrylic seating, and vibrant Sarawak-inspired motifs that pay homage to Borneo's artistic heritage.

The layout embraces an indoor-outdoor flow, seamlessly connecting a sleek open kitchen and coffee bar with the sunlit alfresco seating. A neutral architectural base allows the colorful mural wall to anchor the space — a modern tribute to tradition. Every detail, from the understated finishes to the curated materiality, was selected to balance functionality with visual storytelling.

This project reflects our studio’s belief that design should honor the past while confidently stepping into the future — creating spaces that feel both familiar and entirely new.
