When Daniel, once a beggar on the streets of Kuching, approached us with a vision for his first bakery, we didn’t just see a project. We saw a second chance — for him, and for us as designers to create something truly meaningful.

River & Rye became more than a bakery. It became a physical manifestation of resilience, hope, and warmth. Our design approach focused on soft curves, natural light, warm textures, and materials that told a story — just like Daniel’s journey. From arched windows to terrazzo counters, every detail was intentional, human, and healing.

Design can’t solve everything. But in the right space, with the right heart, it can become part of someone’s comeback story.
